LongfordLongford is a town in the north-east of Tasmania, Australia. It lies 21 km south of Launceston, just off Illawarra Road, a road connecting the Bass and Midland Highways. It has a population of 2,827 (2001 census [1]) and is part of the Northern Midlands Council area.
The town was first settled in 1813 by pioneers relocated from Norfolk Island. Governor Macquarie granted land rights to the settlers who originally called the area Norfolk Plains.
